Hey, I absolutely love your work. I was wondering if you had some sort of artist statement or concept (or if you had one in school). My work is similar and I always have a hard time in critiques explaining the purpose, when everything is intuitive.

In school I wrote artists statements when I had to, but now I don’t because I think that art should capture something that words aren’t able to. No one asks an author to explain their book by painting about it so I’m not sure why people ask artists to explain their paintings with words. For me painting is about a struggle to capture something that you don’t know, that you don’t understand. People want you to explain what a painting is about, but paintings should ask questions, they don’t pose clear answers. So good luck, I certainly never figured out how to explain my art and now I just refuse to.
